COVID-19 has been challenging for most employers but one of the areas impacted has been COBRA.  Due to the National Emergency declared by the President, COBRA qualified beneficiaries will have more time to elect COBRA, notify the employer of COBRA events, more time to notify employer of special enrolment events and more time to pay their monthly COBRA premiums.  In short, employers and benefit professionals who deal with COBRA need to act now to avoid possible adverse consequences in the future.

Once completed the employer or benefit professional should be able to:

  • Understand the areas of COBRA that are affected by the extension
  • Identify those who will be affected
  • Determine best practices to handle those impacted by the extensions
  • Answer questions from COBRA beneficiaries regarding new timelines under COBRA
  • Determine which procedures and communications need to be modified

  • An overview of the Extension for various COBRA notifications and premium payments
  • Discussion of how to identify COBRA beneficiaries who will be affected
  • Discussion of communications that are required and suggested to handle the extensions
  • Strategies to reduce risk to the employer
  • Discussion of what employers and benefit professionals should do to comply with the new rules

This webinar is for you if you have not heard about the expansion of COBRA notification and payment periods or are not sure how to handle the new rules.  Also, if you wonder how to answer the following questions, this webinar is for you:
